BVIFA’S NEW HEAD COACH & WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

The British Virgin Islands Football Association (BVIFA) has announced the appointments of David Pérez as the new National Head Coach and Fitzgerald Carter as the Women’s Development Director, signalling a new chapter in the development of football in the territory.

The announcement was made at a press conference on Friday, March 7, where BVIFA President Avanell Morton emphasized that these appointments align with the association’s vision to elevate football in the BVI.

Madrid-born David Pérez brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having managed teams in Spain, China, Saudi Arabia, and most recently Belize. Before joining the BVI National Team, Pérez was head coach of the Belize National Team and Verdes FC, the reigning champions of the Belizean Premier League.

Pérez expressed enthusiasm for his new role.

Hailing from Barbados, Fitzgerald Carter previously served as Interim Head of Coaching Education at the Barbados Football Association (BFA) and Head Coach of the Barbados Under-20 Men’s National Team. He also has significant experience in developing women’s football.

As Women’s Development Director, Carter pledged to increase female participation and advance the women’s game in the BVI.

Meanwhile, BVIFA Technical Director Paul Decle reaffirmed the association’s commitment to rebuilding respect and quality in BVI football by ensuring that all aspects of the sport are active at the highest levels.

With these strategic appointments, the BVIFA is taking decisive steps to strengthen the national football program, enhance youth and women’s football, and position the BVI as a rising force in regional competition.
