On March 18, 2025, the Honorable Myron V. Walwyn, representative for the Sixth District, hosted a successful Seniors Luncheon aimed at bringing together the senior citizens of the district as part of his efforts to see a Seniors Citizen Programme under the auspices of the Social Development Department started in his district The event welcomed 75 seniors, who enjoyed a hearty lunch and participated in engaging activities that fostered community spirit and connection.
“We were thrilled to gather our seniors today to discuss the exciting initiatives we have in store for them” expressed Hon. Walwyn. “Once funds become available, I am hopeful that the Social Development Department will commence the Seniors Programme, which aims to enrich the lives of seniors in our district.”
During the luncheon, Mrs. Olympia Donovan from the Social Development Department delivered an informative presentation outlining the vision and objectives of the Seniors Programme. Attendees learned about the potential benefits the programme will bring and the importance of social engagement for the elder community.
Hon. Walwyn further elaborated on his aspirations to start a Senior Club to supplement the Seniors Programme, “Following the success of today’s event, my goal is to establish a social club for our seniors, where they can participate in monthly activities that promote joy and interaction.”
The atmosphere was filled with excitement as prizes were awarded during the event. Notably, a generous donation of a 55-inch television from Mr. Mark Vanterpool of Kmark’s Foods delighted one lucky winner.
As the District 6 community looks ahead, Hon. Walwyn is committed to ensuring that seniors receive the support and attention they deserve.
