Update: Access to the affected road where the water has pooled is currently blocked as of 3:30 PM. Teams from Water and Sewerage and Environmental Health are said to be on the ground assessing the situation.

A active sewage leak has been reported, with the flow coming from a manhole outside the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital, according to preliminary reports received Tuesday.

Reports reaching 284Media indicate that the sewerage leak began last night emitting a foul smell in the area that passers by described as “unbearable”. 

The Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital, located in Road Town, is the territory’s main medical facility serving residents throughout the British Virgin Islands.
