The US National Hurricane Centre is monitoring a tropical wave that is located over the eastern Atlantic several hundred miles to the southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.
NHC says this wave is producing a broad area of disorganised showers and thunderstorms and is expected to interact with another wave emerging off the African coast over the next day or two.
It says a, environmental conditions appear marginally favourable for some slow development by the beginning of next week as this system moves gradually to the northwest at 5 to 10 miles per hour.
There is a 20 per cent chance of cyclone formation in the next five days.
