4 RESCUED AFTER PLANE CRASH IN TCI

Four people were rescued in the waters of the Turks and Caicos Islands after the private plane they were travelling on crashed just short of their intended destination.

While some reports said that the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force claimed the rescue was the result of an intensive operation which combined the expertise of the police, emergency personnel and the US Coast Guard, reports from local media outlets claim that the travellers were rescued by a local fisherman.

Speaking on the rescue, Acting Assistant Superintendent of Police Michael Francois gave some credence to the report when he gave special thanks to fisherman Kellison Talbot for doing “an exceptional job in this rescue”.

After the rescue, the 4 were transported to the isle of Grand Turk to receive medical attention.

Their plane crashed about 17 miles southeast of its destination about 11:40 am on Tuesday. They were said to be travelling from St Kitts and Nevis to Grand Turk.
