ST. KITTS CROWN COUNSEL CHARGED WITH AIDING MURDER SUSPECT

The Director of Public Prosecutions of Saint Kitts and Nevis has charged Crown Counsel Prosecutor Shantrice Dorset with multiple offences related to her alleged role in helping a murder suspect evade justice.

Dorset faces charges of accessory after the fact to murder, attempting to pervert the course of justice, misconduct in public office, and corruption. The charges stem from the July 2024 murder of Akeem Archibald, 29, who was shot while riding his motorcycle near his Conaree Village home.

Prosecutors allege Dorset used her official position to help the main suspect, Khyron Philip, dispose of the murder weapon through an amnesty program. She is also accused of assisting Philip in fleeing the country to avoid prosecution.

The case has sent shockwaves through the Caribbean nation’s justice system, as it involves allegations of corruption against a serving Crown Counsel prosecutor.

Archibald was killed on July 20, 2024, at 9:39 pm. Philip was initially identified as the main suspect by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force before allegedly receiving assistance from Dorset to evade capture.
