TOP LOCAL BASKETBALLER D’MOI HODGE TO ENTER 2022 NBA DRAFT

British Virgin Islander D’Moi Hodge has announced that he will be entering this year’s NBA Draft.

Hodge, who was awarded the Defensive Player of the Year and a member of the all-league first team in the Horizon League for his Cleveland State men’s basketball team, made the announcement moments ago on his social media platforms.

He said, “After speaking with my family and coaches, I have decided to enter the transfer portal with one year of eligibility remaining. While going through the process, I will also be entering the 2022 NBA Draft without hiring an agent, in order to maintain my last year of college eligibility.”

Hodge also thanked his coach and university for providing him the opportunity to play basketball at the college level.

“I would like to thank God for giving a kid from a small island an opportunity to pursue his dreams of playing college basketball. I would like to thank coach Gates and the coaching staff at Cleveland State University for always pushing me to be the best version of myself. To the whole Cleveland State family, thank you for welcoming me with open arms. Forever grateful #GoVikes,” he stated.

Hodge’s 2021-2022 college performance

Hodge averaged 2.3 steals per game for his Cleveland State men’s basketball team which led the Horizon League standings.

That average also saw Hodge ranking 13th in the United States of America.

He also became the second straight Cleveland State Vikings player to earn the league’s top defensive honor following his teammate Tre Gomillion who won the award in 2021.

Hodge’s Vikings team finished near the top of the league in defensive field goal percentage last season as he ranked ninth in the U.S with 64 steals. He became the fourth Vikings player to earn the league’s top individual defensive honour.

In addition, Hodge also led the top-seeded Vikings in scoring at 15.7 points, including a pair of 31-point efforts. He shot 48.8 percent from the floor and connected on 2.0 shots from three-point range per game.
