CAVALIERS EXTEND DOMINANT RUN WITH 61-RUN VICTORY OVER FALCONS

The Cavaliers extended their dominant run in the BVI Cricket Association’s T20 League with a convincing 61-run victory over R.T.W Falcons on Sunday.

This clash between the league’s top two sides saw the Cavaliers asserting their superiority in a high-scoring encounter.

Opting to bat first, the Cavaliers posted an imposing total of 246 for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. The foundation of this mammoth total was laid by openers Gavin Hitnarine and Avishkar Sewkarran, who put together a robust 89-run partnership. Hitnarine top-scored with a blistering 58 runs off 32 deliveries, including 6 fours and 4 sixes, while Sewkarran contributed a quick-fire 47 runs off 22 balls.

The Falcons’ bowlers struggled to contain the onslaught, though Turby Xavier emerged as the standout bowler with figures of 2 wickets for 23 runs from his four overs. Imran Smith and Joel Williams also chipped in with two wickets each, but the Cavaliers’ relentless batting kept the pressure on.

In pursuit of a daunting target of 247, the Falcons managed to reach 185 runs before being bowled out in the 19th over.

Despite a promising start with a solid 78-run opening stand between Williams and Damron Prince, the rest of the batting lineup faltered. Williams scored a commendable 59 runs with 6 fours and 5 sixes while Prince added 35 runs, but their efforts were in vain as the middle and lower order collapsed.

The Cavaliers’ bowling attack was spearheaded by Jeeyan Dianarine, who claimed 4 wickets for 29 runs from his 3.1 overs, effectively dismantling the Falcons’ batting lineup and sealing the victory.
