HENDERSON BROTHERS FALL SHORT OF FINALS IN JR CARIBBEAN SQUASH CHAMPIONSHIPS

Representing the British Virgin Islands (BVI) in the Boys Doubles category of the Nagico and Interpath Junior Caribbean Squash Association Championships, brothers Oliver and Daniel Henderson delivered a spirited performance, narrowly missing out on a place in the finals.

Competing at the Tortola Sports Club, the Henderson duo achieved a significant upset in the quarterfinals by defeating the number two ranked Cayman Islands pair of Xavier Marshall and Brodey McComb with scores of 11-8 and 11-6. This victory propelled them into the semi-finals, where they faced Guyana’s Mohryan Baksh and Michael Alphonso.

The semi-final match was a thrilling contest that went the full distance. The Henderson brothers secured the first game 11-10, but Guyana responded strongly in the second game, handing the BVI a 5-11 loss. In the decisive third game, Oliver and Daniel fought valiantly but ultimately fell short, losing 9-11 and bowing out of the Boys Doubles competition.

Guyana’s Baksh and Alphonso advanced to the finals, where they faced Barbados’ Alex Stewart and Aidan Parris. The Barbadian pair clinched the Boys Doubles gold with an 11-4, 11-9 victory.

In other results, Jamaica’s Katerine Risden and Sanjana Nallapati claimed gold in the Girls Doubles, while Guyana’s Nicholas Verwey and Avery Arjoon won the Mixed Doubles title.
