ADAEJAH ON THE BRINK OF DOUBLE GLORY – SECURES 200M FINAL

Adaejah Hodge is just one race away from achieving another historic feat for the British Virgin Islands.

On Thursday, August 29, Hodge became the first BVI athlete to qualify for two sprint finals in the same World Athletics Championships competition, setting the stage for another potential medal in the women’s 200-metre final.

Competing at the World Athletics Under 20 Championships in Lima, Peru, Hodge secured her spot in the 200-metre final by winning Heat 3 of the semifinals with an impressive time of 23.18 seconds. Her performance earned her the second-fastest qualifying time for the final, trailing only Australia’s Torrie Lewis, who clocked in at 23.14 seconds.

This accomplishment follows Hodge’s silver medal in the women’s 100-metre final on Wednesday, a performance that further secured her place in the BVI’s athletic history. Now, she stands on the verge of becoming the first BVI athlete to medal in two sprint events at a single World Championships.

The 200-metre final is scheduled to take place at 7:35 p.m. BVI time on Friday, August 30, where Hodge will aim to add another remarkable achievement to her growing list of accolades.
