BVI FALLS 2-0 TO ST. KITTS AND NEVIS IN CONCACAF NATIONS LEAGUE

The British Virgin Islands men’s senior football team registered their second consecutive loss in the CONCACAF Nations League Group Stage, falling 2-0 to St. Kitts and Nevis on Tuesday, September 10.

The match, held at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex in George Town, Cayman Islands, saw the BVI outclassed by a dominant St. Kitts side, which controlled 81.4 percent of possession and registered 13 shots to the BVI’s 4.

St. Kitts opened the scoring early in the 11th minute, when forward Tiquanny Williams capitalized on a defensive error by Kristian Javier, slotting the ball home from close range near the penalty spot. Despite several missed opportunities, Tiquanny doubled the lead in the 64th minute after a poor back-pass from BVI’s Ikyjah Williams left him one-on-one with BVI goalkeeper Mekhi Waters.

With the defeat, the BVI remains at the bottom of Group C with 0 points, while St. Kitts and Nevis lead the group with a perfect 6 points from two matches. The Cayman Islands sit second with 3 points.
