TOP PERFORMERS HONOURED AT BVIFA MEDIA DAY AND AWARD CEREMONY

The BVI Football Association (BVIFA) celebrated the outstanding performers of the 2023-24 football season at its 2nd annual Media Day and Award Ceremony on Sunday, September 22, at the A. O. Shirley Recreation Ground.

The event highlighted the achievements of top players and clubs, who were honoured for their dedication and performances throughout the season.

Players and representatives from the winning teams of the various football tournaments were in attendance, with both the men’s and women’s league champions, Wolues Football Club, proudly collecting their trophies after a historic season. Virgin Gorda United took home the Emmett Caines Knockout Cup trophy, while Avengers Football Club claimed the 7 versus 7 Knockout Cup in the women’s tournament.

Among the top individual awardees was Phil Nelson, who earned the title of Male Most Valuable Player, while T’Kylah Richardson was named Female Most Valuable Player. The Golden Boot Award went to Hugo Lizario, who set a record with 25 goals. In the female category, there was a tie for the Golden Boot, with Kyla Flax and Eva Carey both scoring eight goals.

In the goalkeeping department, while not present to collect their awards, Mekihi Waters was awarded the Male Golden Glove, and Britney Peters the Female Golden Glove title. VG United’s Jaadon Quashie was recognized as the Male Best Young Player, and Avengers FC Chelsie Dyer took home the Female Best Young Player award.

Other notable awardees included Jermain May for Referee of the Season, Richie Morton for the Men’s League Coach of the Season, John Riley for the Female League Coach of the Season, Gloria Fahie for the Female League Manager of the Season and Jermain Abrams for Men’s League Manager of the Season.
