BVI NETBALLERS DEFEAT STATIA 42-26 – COMPREHENSIVE VICTORY IN TOURNAMENT OPENER

The British Virgin Islands (BVI) netball team secured a commanding victory over World Netball’s newest full member, St. Eustatius, in their opening match of the Battle of the Saints tournament on Thursday, October 24.

The game, held at the LB Scott Sports Auditorium in St. Maarten, saw the BVI team dominate Statia with a final score of 42-26.

BVI started strong, leading at the end of each quarter. By halftime, they had extended their lead to 19-12, though Statia mounted some resistance in the third quarter, reducing the deficit to 27-23. However, in the final quarter, BVI’s defence locked down Statia, allowing them to score only three goals, while BVI’s offense added 15 critical goals to secure a comprehensive victory.

The BVI team will now face the host nation, St. Maarten, in their next game at 7:00 p.m. BVI time this evening.

The BVI squad consists of players Karen Greene, Anne-Marie Coombs, Sheron Griffith, Shinia Rowtham, Abi Lamorelle, Tammy Joseph, Abi Edwards, Delcha Martin, Ruth Robin, Sakena Codner, Clita Russell, and Anna Robinson. Coaching and management are led by Mandi Atack, Karl Scatliffe, Ladanna Duncan, Lisa Adamson, Jamal Sargeant, and Tamsin Rand.
