The opening weekend of the new season set the tone for a thrilling campaign as defending champions Wolues F.C. asserted their dominance with a decisive 6-2 victory over rivals One Love F.C.
With last season’s Golden Boot winner Hugo Lizario picking up right where he left off by scoring a brace, Wolues showcased their attacking prowess. Marcus Robinson also netted twice, while Phil Nelson and Alexander Edwards completed the scoreline in what was a commanding start to the season for the champions.
Despite the emphatic win, it wasn’t enough to secure the top spot as Lion Heart F.C. claimed that honour with an even more impressive 6-0 win over Avengers F.C. Lion Heart’s Shevaughn Thomas stole the spotlight with the season’s first hat trick, while teammates Tavoy Thomas and Justic Browne joined in on the scoring.
Meanwhile, VG United also made a statement with a comfortable 4-0 victory against Panthers F.C. Jaadon Quashie and Davante Samuel both found the net, with Levon Williams adding to the tally and an own goal rounding out the result.
Elsewhere, Rebels F.C. edged out Sugar Boys F.C. in a tight 2-1 contest on Virgin Gorda. Sheldon Toney opened the scoring for Rebels, only to see McGraw Baptiste level the game for Sugar Boys. However, Curtly Peters’ late winner ensured that Rebels started the season with three points.
In a five-goal thriller, Positive F.C. held off Old Madrid F.C. for a 3-2 victory. Positive surged to a 3-0 lead by halftime, courtesy of a brace from Anthony Greene and a goal from Jean Wilhelm Jeudy. Old Madrid fought back as Richard Welcome scored from the penalty spot and Kenmore Simmons brought them within one, but Positive held on to secure the win.
