Ephraim Penn, President of the British Virgin Islands Olympic Committee (BVIOC), has been elected as the new President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (ANOCES).
The election, held on October 18, 2024, during the ANOCES General Assembly at Sandals Beaches Resort in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, is seen as a testament to Penn’s distinguished leadership in regional sports.
Penn’s new role as President of ANOCES underscores his dedication to the Olympic movement and his proven track record in advancing sports at both grassroots and elite levels in the British Virgin Islands. Under his leadership, the BVI has made significant strides in sports development, and his influence is expected to enhance collaborative efforts and opportunities for athletes across the Eastern Caribbean.
Expressing his gratitude for the confidence placed in him, Penn emphasized the importance of working together with regional National Olympic Committees (NOCs) to strengthen the Olympic movement. “I am honored to serve as the President of ANOCES, and I look forward to working closely with my colleagues in the Eastern Caribbean to advance the development of sports, support our athletes, and further promote the Olympic ideals,” Penn stated. “Together, we will build a stronger, and more unified sports community in the region.”
The General Assembly also saw the appointment of key members to the ANOCES leadership team. Dominica’s Billy Doctrove was elected as Vice President, while re-elections included Keith Joseph as General Secretary, Glenville Jeffers as Treasurer, and Cliff Williams as Committee Member. The continuity of this experienced leadership team is expected to provide stability and momentum as ANOCES pursues its goals for the future of sports in the Eastern Caribbean.
Penn’s election and the new leadership appointments mark an exciting new chapter for ANOCES, with hopes that the association will foster a thriving sports community in the region.
