Reigning champions Wolues FC climbed to the top of the BVI Football Association National Football League standings following a commanding 4-0 victory over Old Madrid FC on Saturday, December 14 at Greenland Football Stadium, East End, Tortola.
Wolues took the lead in the 40th minute with a goal by James Malley. Shortly after halftime, Abner Guevara doubled the score in the 46th minute, with Kieran Bown and Olliver Henderson adding goals in the 60th and 65th minutes, respectively.
The win keeps Wolues FC unbeaten this season, placing them three points clear of second-place Virgin Gorda United with a total of 20 points.
Sunday’s Results at Greenland
In other matches at Greenland on Sunday, Panthers FC defeated Rebels FC 5-2. Rebels struck first with an own goal in the third minute, but Panthers responded with a hat-trick by Nigel Sanderson (16th, 59th, 82nd) and additional goals by Dylano Liverpool (72nd) and a Rebels’ own goal (77th).
One Love United edged past Sugar Boys 2-1, with first-half goals from Derval Stephenson (36th) and Latriel Williams (43rd). Andres Bailey scored for Sugar Boys in the 69th minute.
Virgin Gorda Matches
Over at Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground, Lion Heat FC crushed Positive FC 7-0, with Tyrone Buddah and Cee Jay Lampart each scoring twice. In the second game, Collin Lavia delivered a stellar performance with a double hat-trick as Islanders FC routed Avengers FC 10-0 to sit in third in the standings on 16 points.
