BVI ATHLETES SHINE ON U.S. COLLEGIATE TRACK AND FIELD STAGE

Athletes from the British Virgin Islands are making their mark across the U.S. collegiate track and field circuit, delivering strong performances in various events and representing their schools with distinction.

Competing at the Chelsey Henkenius 2025 Indoor Track Meet, Tyreese James delivered standout performances, winning both the 60-metre dash and the 200-metre dash. James secured the top spot in the 60 metres with a time of 6.83 seconds and dominated the 200 metres with a winning time of 22.43 seconds.

Likewise dominating the track was Florida State University’s Kaelyaah Liburd who secured the top 10 women’s 400-metre record with a lifetime best of 53.90 seconds. That time sits at number three in the NCAA.

At the Thane Baker Invitational, Wanyae Belle sprinted to an impressive second-place finish in the Men’s 60 metres, clocking a time of 6.74 seconds. Belle’s performance demonstrated his early-season form as he continues to compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association ranks.

Also in the NJCAA, Kenyatta Grate showcased her speed in the 200 metres at the 2025 Graduate Classic, finishing third with a time of 24.68 seconds. Her effort now ranks her sixth among NJCAA athletes in the 200 metres.

Representing the University of Texas at El Paso, Joshua Hill competed in the 600-yard run at the Corky Classic, finishing second in his heat and 15th overall with a time of 1:11.23. Hill’s time secured him the third spot in UTEP’s all-time indoor rankings for the 600-yard event.

On the field side also at the 2025 Corky Classic, Khybah Dawson representing Texas A&M leaped 7.34 metres to claim fifth place in the finals of the men’s long jump.

Meanwhile, at the 2025 Graduate Classic, Sophomore Dia’monae Thomas opened her season competing in the 60-metre dash. Thomas clocked a time of 8.15 seconds in Heat 2, setting the stage for her progression throughout the season.
