LIAT 2020 LAUNCHES NEW CARIBBEAN ROUTES WITH PROMOTIONAL FARES

LIAT 2020, the revived regional airline, has announced the launch of direct flights to Dominica, Grenada, and St Kitts and Nevis, in the first expansion to its Caribbean network.

The airline, which emerged from the closure of LIAT 1974, is offering introductory fares starting at US$99 plus taxes.. This expansion builds upon LIAT 2020’s existing service to destinations including Saint Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, and Barbados.

LIAT 2020 is the result of a partnership between the government of Antigua and Barbuda and Nigeria-based AirPeace, announced in January 2024. The airline’s formation followed the closure of its predecessor, LIAT 1974, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The relaunch process began in earnest in March 2024, with meetings and negotiations for aircraft acquisition. This expansion represents another step in restoring and enhancing regional air connectivity in the Caribbean.

The airline’s revival and route expansion are expected to boost tourism and trade links between the islands, addressing a critical need for improved regional transportation in the wake of challenges in air travel.
