GOV’T EYES EXPANDED RELATIONSHIP WITH WINAIR; POSSIBLE VIRGIN GORDA FLIGHTS

The territory  is setting its sights on further enhancing air travel connections, following a high-level meeting between government officials and Winair’s Chief Executive Officer Hans van de Velde.

Minister for Works, Honorable Kye Rymer, revealed in a recent interview that the courtesy visit was prompted by Winair’s growing interest in the BVI market.

The talks centred on potential collaborations to improve travel experiences to and from the BVI. Winair, which recently acquired its third ATR-42 aircraft, is exploring ways to expand its services in the territory.

The meeting, which included representatives from the BVI Airports Authority and Tourist Board, also addressed infrastructure improvements. Minister Rymer emphasized the need to enhance the territory’s airport capabilities, particularly in light of recent weather-related flight cancellations.

As the BVI approaches the fourth quarter, officials are optimistic about the uptick in visitor arrivals, partly attributed to direct flights from American Airlines.
