INTERCARIBBEAN SERVICE SEES MAJOR IMPROVEMENT FOLLOWING GOVT INTERVENTION

The Government of the Virgin Islands’ recent intervention with InterCaribbean Airways has led to a significant improvement in the air travel services provided to the territory by the airline.

This is according to the Managing Director of the BVI Airports Authority, Kurt Menal, who shared the update during a recent interview with 284 Media. He noted that the once-frequent delays and cancellations have dramatically decreased since the government’s discussions with the airline in August.

He described the current operations as “seamless” and applauded the airline’s efforts to ensure better service for travellers through the territory’s airports.

The government’s response came after mounting public frustration over inadequate air services. Minister of Communications and Works, Hon. Kye Rymer, organized the discussions with InterCaribbean Airways following a surge of complaints regarding frequent delays, cancellations, and customer service issues that disrupted travel plans for many residents and visitors.

In the August meeting, Rymer raised these issues directly with InterCaribbean Airways executives, including CEO Trevor Sadler and COO Craig Chapple. The airline officials cited persistent technical issues and staffing shortages as the primary reasons for the ongoing service disruptions but reassured the government that they were actively addressing these challenges.

InterCaribbean Airways has since taken measures to improve operations, providing much-needed stability for regional travellers and improving connectivity in and out of the British Virgin Islands.
